What is this course?
 

This qualification is the perfect starting point for pupils interested in a rewarding career helping others. 

It is designed to give pupils an understanding of the different roles available within the health, social care, and childcare sectors and the fundamental skills required to work with vulnerable people, from infants to the elderly.

This course is ideal for pupils who:

  • Are considering a career in Nursing, Social Work, Teaching, or Early Years care.

  • Enjoy working with people and want to develop their communication skills.

  • Want a practical, vocational alternative to traditional academic subjects.

  • Are looking for a stepping stone to Level 2 qualifications or apprenticeships.

  • Service Provision: Understanding the range of services available in health and social care (e.g., hospitals, care homes) and early years settings (e.g., nurseries, schools).

  • Professional discussions with the teacher.

  • Presentations.
     

Where can it lead?

Successfully completing this Level 1 Award opens doors to further education and training. Typical progression routes include:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
