Information Communication Technology
Our School offers excellent facilities for studying ICT; we have a dedicated computing suite with industry standard software installed. This ensures the Students gain experience using software that is used in further education and the workplace. We also have a range of media equipment including HD video recorders, MP3 microphones and DSLR cameras.
All Students are taught about internet safety including social networking and digital footprints.
At key stage 3 our students follow the National Curriculum in ICT. Next term students are designing and creating magazines using Adobe InDesign - industry standard software.
In 2018 we have an exciting curriculum planned including planning a road trip using spreadsheets, an introduction to programming using Lego Mindstorms Robots and a short film making project.
Finally we hope that all students will produce a digital portfolio show casing their work.
In KS4 we offer The European Computing Driving Licence (ECDL) qualification awarded by The British Computing School at Level 2. This is a vocational qualification that teaches young people how to use IT software applications confidently and effectively. The digital skills students learn will help them in any subject where they use a computer, for example, create accurate graphs for Maths, give slick presentations in Geography, analyse data in Business Studies or just make homework look its best.
If Pupils have started a GCSE course with their previous school we endeavour to allow them to complete this course.
